Slaughter Ficklin account book and two letters [manuscript] 1845-1850, 1894.

Account book kept by Slaughter W. Ficklin of Bellemont, Charlottesville, Va. records expenses and accounts; slave accounts, including names, ages and from whom Ficklin purchased individuals, as well as expenses for hires and clothing; and the purchase of land for Bellemont. There are references to Slaughter Ficklin's sister, Ellen M. Ficklin and his brother Benjamin F. Ficklin. The account book was later used as a commonplace book; clippings that were pasted in have been removed and filed separately. Most are household hints and recipes for home remedies. Also includes two letters; one advertising horse medicine from C.L. Watson to W.G. Ficklin, 1894 June 2, & 1894 Oct. 6, Donna Reid, to Mrs. W.
